In continuation with the second line of inquiry ‘How we can use material’ students understood how different materials can be used to make the same object. To further enhance their knowledge students went for a field trip to ‘Anandagram’ where they explored objects made out of different materials like terracotta, metal, clay, husk and mud. They observed objects made of ceramic at the ‘Ceramic center’. The school carpenter and electrician were invited as guest speakers to apprise them about the role of materials in our daily lives. Students were assessed on their understanding of preposition through a formative assessment. Students enhanced their writing skills through an interesting story writing activity. They were also assessed on their spelling through spell bee and they also created sentences with the chosen words. Students were introduced to the concept of fractions with interesting cookies activity and they gained knowledge on the concept of whole, half and quarter. To further enhance their understanding, they practiced fractions in their journal through a task sheet. During ICT lessons students enjoyed playing ‘Kahoot;, an online quizzing tool and they loved it. They were very excited and were truly engaged in it the whole time. For their Hindi lessons students were taught ‘anuswar’ and ‘anunasik’ with the help of a t-chart activity. They were introduced to the grammar concept ‘vishashan’ (adjective) through an activity. The Hindi ab-initio students were introduced to Vyanjan ‘tha’ and learnt poem ‘aasmaan mei sooraj ek’. In their Art classes, students integrated with their current unit ‘Materials’ by creating a mix media artwork using different mediums and materials like newspaper, florescent paper, thread, glitters, paints, crayons, etc. They also gave a title to their art work. Dance students are now doing a combination of basic hands and feet positions with different type of music during their dance routine. Students also enhanced their coordination by practicing dancing statue. Students attended a session on Zumba . They also practiced skating while learning to balance and speed up.
